In this two-hour masterclass, Snarky Puppy’s violinist Zach Brock will take you inside his unique approach to contemporary string improvisation. Topics will include melodic, harmonic, and rhythmic techniques, as well as composition, arranging, and best practices for getting “your sound” when playing live and in the studio. This a “play-along” class so bringing your instrument is highly recommended but not mandatory. There will be string-specific information but players of all instruments are encouraged and welcome to attend.
Critically acclaimed as the “pre-eminent improvising violinist of his generation,” Zach Brock is an American jazz violinist and multi Grammy Award-winning member of Snarky Puppy. He has also performed with jazz legends Stanley Clarke and Kurt Rosenwinkel, released seven solo albums, and was named “Rising Star Violinist” of 2013 by Downbeat Magazine.
